Our head instructor, Marcos “Yemaso” Torregrosa traveled to New York City to compete in the NYC ADCC Trials, a satellite tournament, to win an all expense paid trip to the United Arab Emirates for a chance to compete in the World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Cup. The ADCC Trials, is a tournament that you have to win in order to get a ticket to compete in another much larger and more prestigious tournament.
The World Jiu-Jitsu Pro is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the grappling community and one of the hardest to compete in due to the talent it attracts with cash prizes. One of the unique traits of this tournament is that it is exclusively funded by the Prince of the United Arab Emirates, Sheik Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
This is the second time Marcos has won a satellite tournament in order to get a chance to travel over 8,000 miles to compete in Abu Dhabi. Marcos will be taking the +19 hour flight to Abu Dhabi in April. Not many Americans have created an opportunity for themselves to compete in this prestigious tournament, in fact Marcos is the only martial artist in the Sacramento area to have ever done so.
Winning a chance to compete in the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Cup is incredibly difficult; we are very proud of our instructor!
